Kaidu (开读, "open reading") was built to solve a problem every Chinese learner faces: the massive gap between textbook content and real Chinese.
Textbooks give you "小明买苹果" (Xiaoming buys apples). Native content throws you into dense novels with unfamiliar idioms and three-line sentences. There's nothing in between.

This is the principle of comprehensible input—the idea that language acquisition happens naturally when you engage with content you can mostly understand, with just enough challenge to keep growing.
Kaidu makes this possible by giving you reading tools (pinyin, translations, etymology) when you need them, and getting out of the way when you don't.
